Why You’re Stuck in the Same Stress Cycle

Ever feel like you’re just going through the motions? Waking up, checking your phone, rushing through your day, collapsing into bed—only to do it all over again? This is the reality for most people. But what’s really happening behind the scenes?

The answer lies in your brain’s response to stress. When cortisol (your stress hormone) spikes too often, it shrinks your hippocampus—the part of your brain responsible for memory and learning. This means you’re more likely to fall into familiar patterns, even if they’re not serving you.

You might feel:
✅ Drained and exhausted, but unsure why
✅ Like you’re doing too much yet accomplishing too little
✅ Stuck in unhealthy habits but unable to change them

The good news? You have the power to break free.

The 3-Step Process to Reclaim Your Energy
If you want to break out of autopilot mode and truly thrive, try this simple exercise:
1. Identify Your Energy Givers
Think about the activities, people, or experiences that make you feel alive and refreshed. What sparks joy, creativity, or excitement?
Examples:
✔️ A morning walk in nature
✔️ Listening to your favorite music
✔️ Meaningful conversations with loved ones
✔️ Creative hobbies like painting or journaling
Action Step: Write down at least three energy givers you want to do more of.
2. Identify Your Energy Drainers
What in your life is stealing your energy and leaving you feeling depleted? These could be people, tasks, habits, or even negative thought patterns.
Examples:
❌ Constant multitasking
❌ Endless scrolling on social media
❌ Toxic relationships
❌ Overcommitting to things that don’t align with your values
Action Step: List three energy drainers and decide how you can delegate, automate, or eliminate them.
3. Shift Your Focus: Create More Space for What Matters
Once you’ve identified what lifts you up and what weighs you down, it’s time to make a conscious shift. The goal isn’t just to do less, but to make space for what matters more.
Ask yourself:
🧐 What’s one small change I can make today to prioritize my energy givers?
🧐 How can I simplify my schedule to focus on things that truly fulfill me?
By making these intentional shifts, you’ll stop living on autopilot and start living with purpose.
